Service was very friendly and food came pretty quickly. Each one very unique but well executed in preparation. Croissant bread pudding, chocolate pudding, Apple tart. Would come back solely for that dish.ĭesserts were also impeccable with traditional French preparations. Huge whole duck breast, perfectly cooked medium rare, crispy crackling skin, soft tender meat but juicy despite the lean cut. Big portions, proteins executed to perfection and the 38 North Duck Breast is absolutely to die for. ![]() The entrees on the other hand were the star of the show. Each one was very light delicate, not large portion size but still filling and very flavorful. Ordered a smattering of dishes from snails, oysters, cheese plate for appetizers. Still good value set to share for 2 people.ĭelicious meal that is upscale but still reasonably priced considering the quantity and quality of food you're getting. I confirm the recipe/taste stayed the same. Less customers dinning out causing restaurant to churn out less food.hence the freshness/quality of the food gets impacted. It appeared that inflation/economy has caused people to tighten their purse string. I noticed this is the trend with restaurants with my own personal experiences dinning out the past few weeks. A possible of reheat instead of freshly made when it was much busier. The fish fillets were more flaky and less resilient. The grilled fish set taste stayed consistent but my lunch date was complaining about the fish freshness. Just a heads up so you won't be surprised for the extra fee. We opted out of the rice paper so I don't know how much the extra fee would be. Guess the restaurant is trying to contain cost/cut corner where the waitress asked if we wanted rice paper which will be extra fee. Had the usual turmeric & dill grilled fish set. Had an early lunch on Sunday, around 11:30 am. ![]() Gao Viet Kitchen's Bun Cha Co Linh is way better.īanh Bot Chien Trung - Fried Flour Cake With Egg ($11.25): This is also another go-to item whenever we come here. We didn't think there was enough so we were mostly just eating the fish with the vegetables.īun Cha Ha Noi - BBQ Pork & Pork Patties With Thin Noodle ($16.25): The BBQ pork was good but the pork patties were just okay. I wish they gave a little bit more noodles. The fish was as good as always - the pieces were big, soft, and tasty. This is our go-to item whenever we come here. Beef was okay too.īun Cha Ca La Vong - Grilled Fish With Thin Noodle & Vegetables ($32.95): This is meant for 2 people to share my mom & I shared and we still had leftover. The sauce is also mild and just not something I enjoy. The big blocks are pho are fried flat rice noodles. Pho Ap Chao Bo Don - Crispy Chow Fun With Stir Fried Beef & Vegetables ($16.50): This looks great in picture & in presentation but the taste is mid. The service is a bit slower, & the workers had a bit of an attitude. We had to wait about 20 minutes before we were seated. We came here for Mother's Day dinner around 6 PM and it was crowded. Hope that next time I come, it will improve bc I really want to like this restaurant. There was no joy in what they were serving. The waiters seemed really unhappy to be there though. Wine suggestion by the bartender/somm? was excellent. That being said, my companion finished the whole thing. For me, it had no correlation to Portuguese food & the ratio of the nest portion to egg was just too much. I’m more than willing to pay the same amount of money for less food.ĭessert was a total miss for me. At the end of the first 4 courses my belly was bursting full. ![]() This will be controversial, but I feel like the portion sizes can be smaller. Instead, we were just explained what we were eating. For example, every dish should have a story of how it relates to a typical Portuguese dish or how it’s a twist as an influence of immigrating. However, I feel like this story is lost during the entirety of the meal & should be leaned on more heavily. Their angle is that they’re descendants of Portuguese immigrants and they serve modern takes of Portuguese food. I’ve been here a few times and I just can’t seem to feel wowed by the food.
